11 Days Midrange Safari Tarangire, Lake Natron, Climb Mt Ol Donyo Lengai, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater & Lake Eyasi

DAY 1: KILIMANJARO AIRPORT TO ARUSHA MC ELLYS HOTEL

Pick up from Kilimanjaro Airport, drive to Mc Ellys Hotel or similar for overnight, bed and breakfast

DAY 2: ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK

Pick up from Mc Ellys Hotel at 9.00am, drive to Arusha National Park, a short 40 minute drive from Arusha town.

The park has an incredible variety of fauna and flora, which cannot fail to impress. Hollywood also chose this region to film the movie “Hatari” in which Hardy Kruger starred alongside the legendary John Wayne.

At the Momella Gate, an armed ranger will be waiting to accompany you on a walking safari that will give you the chance to experience the wildlife up-close. Only a few other National Parks in Tanzania give you such an opportunity and it is something that should not be missed.

After a delicious picnic lunch we continue our safari within the Arusha National Park. After plenty of time to observe the wildlife, we will drive to Mc Ellys Hotel for overnight. Bed and breakfast.

DAY 3: TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, at 9.30am drive with picnic lunch to Tarangire National Park for a full day game drive.

Tarangire National Park covers 2,600 square kilometers and at dry times, the concentration of animal’s rivals that of the much better known Serengeti – the game numbers are staggering: E.g. 30,000 Zebras, 25,000 Wildebeests, 5,000 Buffaloes, 3,000 Elephants, 2,500 Maasai Giraffes and over 1,000 Fringe-eared Oryx’s (gemsbok), Predators include Lions, Cheetah and Leopards.

Also flocks of birds: E.g. Green Wood Hoopoes, Fisher Lovebirds, white bellied go-away birds and giant kingfishers. Dinner and overnight at Tarangire Safari Lodge or similar.

DAY 4: TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

Early morning at 30.00 am have a cup of coffee and proceed for a sunrise game drive till 8.00 am come back to the lodge for a full breakfast. After breakfast, have a game viewing with picnic lunch en route to lake Natron

Arrive in the afternoon. A short tour to Lake Natron on foot. Lake Natron is one of the major flamingo breeding areas. Evening, visit the nearby waterfalls for a swim in the river and also visit a Maasai family for a short cultural interaction. Dinner and overnight at Lake Natron Tented Camp or similar.

DAY 5: CLIMB MT OLDONYOLENGAI

Early at 1.0am have a cup of coffee, then drive to the starting point of Mt Oldonyo Lengai.

The climb takes about 4 to 5 hours on a normal pace. The climb is strenuous and requires a physically fit person, arrive at the peak just before sunrise. Lengai volcanic crater looks like a field infested with red firelight insects just before sunrise. An amazing site to visit.The tour of the active crater after sunrise, then retracing your steps down to the base, drive to the camp for food and rest, dinner and overnight at Lake Natron Tented Camp or similar.

DAY 6 : SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast have a game drive en-route with picnic lunch to Serengeti National Park, crossing over Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The vast Serengeti plains are home to a huge variety of animals and birds species. Dinner and overnight at Shuhudia Adventure Camp or similar.

DAY 7: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Early morning at 5.30am have a cup of coffee, and then proceed for sunrise game viewing till 8.00am come back for full breakfast.

After breakfast, have a full day game viewing in vast Serengeti Plains, home to a huge variety of animals and birds, Search among the trees and kopjes for the elusive Leopards and cheetah as well as Wildebeest Migration. After Sunset game drive back tofor dinner and overnight at Shuhudia Adventure Camp or similar.

DAY 8: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast proceed for a Game viewing en-route with picnic lunches and visit to the small but very interesting Dr. Leakey Historical Museum at Olduvai Gorge. Ascend from the plains to the rim of Ngorongoro Crater for dinner and overnight at Rhino Lodge or similar.

DAY 9: NGORONGORO CRATER

After early breakfast descends to the Crater floor for 7 hrs game viewing with picnic lunches in Ngorongoro Crater. Ngorongoro is one of the true wonders of nature and home of Rhinos, Elephants, Lions and many other species. Dinner and overnight at Lake Eyasi Safari Lodge or similar.

DAY 10: LAKE EYASI - LOCAL HUNTING WITH HADZABE BUSHMEN

Early at 5.30am drive to the bush  meetHdzabe Bushmen tribe.

They are often willing for visitors to come and see their simple bush homes where the tree canopy alone or a cave provides them with shelter.

They live entirely off the bush and from hunting. After getting a special opportunity to walk with the Hadza, hunting or gathering honey and insects from the bush, after lunch drive to the lodge for breakfast.

After breakfast visit Barbeig tribe and Mangati tribes to experience their daily life.

After lunch drive back to Mc Ellys Hotel for overnight, bed and breakfast

DAY 11: ARUSHA –KILIMANJARO AIRPORT

After breakfast, drive to Arusha Town for town tour and shopping. Then drive to Arusha Town /Kilimanjaro airport or Arusha Airport.
